We also offer basic educational classes (English as a second language, Computers, GED and occasionally citizenship preparation) to our membership in conjuction with the Consortium for Workers Education. These classes are generally held on Saturday mornings at a centrally located center in Manhattan. In addition, we also have a partner program in Northern Manhattan (Washington Heights) that offers similar classes in both English and Spanish. To register, please contact Lourdes Lanzot at ext 129.
The Union offers a scholarship program for its members and their dependants. The award differs each year depending on the level of fundraising. To apply, please fill out an application form.

The union recognizes that the cost of childcare is a burden on working families. As such, we also have some scholarships to help our members.The Union has several programs to assist working families afford quality care. The first is the Day Care Scholarship award that is funded through the UFCW's Women's Network. Assistance is awarded annually. The second program is offered through The New York Union Child Care Coalition. This program is income based and only members who live or work in specific zip codes are eligible. For the Liberty Zone Project: Families with children under 13 years of age who LIVE or WORK below 14th Street in Manhattan.. For the Bronx Project: Families with children under 13 years of age who LIVE or WORK in one of the following zip codes: 10458, 10460, 10461, 10462, 10465, 10466, 10467 and 10469.For the Brooklyn Project Project: Families with children under 13 years of age who LIVE or WORK in one of the following zip codes: 11203, 11206, 11213, 11216, 11221, 11233 and 11237.
